Frequently asked questions

I’ve seen multiple providers. Can you really help me? I could answer that a couple of different ways. First, no one can guarantee result. I can give you an honest assessment after a 15 minute complimentary consultation, by phone, video, or in-person… and you’ll have a better idea by then, too. In reality, you probably haven’t seen an herbalist. (Advice from the health food store clerk doesn’t count.) You may have taken herbs after reading a book or on the recommendation of a chiropractor or other alternative provider. A true herbal approach is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Let’s chat and I can explain how we might approach your situation.

Do I have to be in the Boise, Idaho area? No, I can do video consultations with anyone, anywhere in the United States. I’ve even consulted with clients in other countries.

How long does it take to see results? Some people feel a difference very quickly and others take longer. Generally speaking, most people will feel results within the first week or so. Full disclosure, you might feel worse while getting better. We can mitigate that in a few ways, including pacing, advanced detox, and binders.

How long does someone work with you? The short answer is months. You didn’t develop a chronic issue overnight and it’s not likely to resolve overnight either. However, my pricing structure is designed so that it costs you less as you need less help from me in later months.

My last provider sold 12 month plans? Why don’t you? I don’t know if you’re going to need to work with me for a year. Also, if you’re not ready to give me a few months to make an impact, it’s best that we not get started. However, if we’re six months in and you’re not satisfied, you’re not stuck with me for another six months.

What’s the difference between herbalism and functional medicine? They are very different approaches. If conventional medicine addresses symptoms and herbalism address the body’s ecosystem, functional medicine is somewhere in between. It uses a more conventional diagnostic framework, using lab tests to identify and replace deficiencies in the body. It tends to be much more expensive than herbalism.

How does herbalism fit with traditional medical care? Herbalism complements rather than replaces medical care. I encourage clients to continue with routine medical check-ups. There may be issues that I ask you to receive medical clearance on before we address them. I take a very practical approach and recognize that all modalities have something to offer and none have all the answers.

If you have a chronic health issue, you’re looking for answers. You’ve probably been down a couple of dead ends already. Send me a message and let’s see if we can help you feel better.
